All of the programs are administered by the Province of Ontario.
Conservation Land Tax Incentive Program
The Conservation Land Tax Incentive Program (CLTIP) is designed to recognize, encourage and support the long-term private stewardship of Ontario's provincially significant conservation lands by providing property tax relief to those landowners who agree to protect the natural heritage values of their property. The current tax relief offered is 100 % tax exemption on that eligible portion of the property.
The CLTIP is not a land acquisition program. Participating landowners retain full ownership and property rights. This program is also not associated with Conservation Authorities or Conservation Authority properties and conservation areas.
Farm Property Class Tax Rate Program
The Township is responsible for setting property tax rates. Properties eligible for the Farm Property Class Tax Rate Program are taxed at 25% of the residential rate. Although MPAC may assess a property as a farm, it is taxed at the residential rate until placed in the Farm Property Tax Class by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA).
Managed Forest Tax Incentive Program
The Managed Forest Tax Incentive Program (MFTIP) offers a reduction in property taxes to landowners of forested land who prepare a plan and agree to be good stewards of their property. To qualify, the land must be greater than 9.88 acres of forested land and be owned by a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. The land must be managed by a forest plan approved by a Managed Forest Plan Approver.
