Fire Ban announcements may be made during the year depending on conditions. It is the responsibility of the owner to check for fire bans.

Fire Permits
A fire permit is required for all open air burning.
Residents who registered for a permit prior to June 1, 2021 need to re-apply using the link below. Residents have until November 30, 2021 to re-apply.

If you are a tenant, permission from the property owner must be obtained.
Cost: All open-air fire permits are FREE.
Burning

A fire permit is required when using a burn barrel. |
Campfires |
No fire permit is required if campfire burning consists of a small, confined fire supervised at all times, and is used to cook food. |
Fines
In the event of any negligence or carelessness regarding any fire, the person(s) responsible will be held liable for all costs incurred by the Department in extinguishing said fire, including the time required for all equipment to be made operational again.
If a complaint is received by the Fire Department where person(s) are burning and such burning is causing a discomfort to the complainant, there may be a fee charged for Fire Department personnel to respond and investigate the situation.
Any person(s) who deliberately sets out a fire without a permit, or refuses to assist in controlling or extinguishing said fire may be prosecuted and obligated to pay any costs incurred by the municipality. (Charges at Ministry of Transportation Rates).
