Council declared one of the two Sherbrooke Ward Councillor positions vacant at its meeting on August 27th, 2024.
At the same meeting, as per Section 263 of the Municipal Act, 2001, Council also decided to fill the position by Appointment.

To be appointed to municipal office you must qualify. To be a qualified candidate you must be:

Who cannot be a Candidate? |
*Despite the above disqualification, MPs, MPPs and Senators may apply for municipal office without having to resign their current seat in parliament. However by 2:00 p.m. on September 19th, 2024 (Application Deadline), MPs, MPPs and Senators will be required to resign their current seat should they wish to continue to seek municipal office. If you are a federal or provincial cabinet minister, you must step down from cabinet prior to filing your application and must resign your seat by the close of applications. |
Appointment Process |
Expressions of Interest will be accepted at the Municipal Office during regular business hours until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 19th, 2024 for the following office: (1) Councillor - Sherbrooke Ward Expressions of Interest must include:
Applicants are requested to bring proof of identity and residence and the unsigned forms with them to the Municipal Office where they are to be signed in front of the CAO/Clerk or Deputy Clerk and filed. Applicants must contact the Clerk to schedule a date and time to apply.
