Tay Valley Township's Public Works Department is responsible for the sanding and plowing of approximately 300 km's of roads during the winter.
Clearing your Driveway
The public is reminded that under the Highway Traffic Act, it is an offence to deposit snow or ice on a roadway without permission to do so from the road authority responsible for the maintenance of the road (Section 181). This includes pushing snow across the roadway.

Parking
Please note that it is an offence to park or strand a vehicle in such a manner as to interfere with the movement of traffic or the clearing of snow from a highway - Section 170 of the Highway Traffic Act. https://www.ontario.ca/laws/statute/90h08#BK276
Mailbox Damage
The Public Works Department will only replace a mailbox if it has been physically hit by the snowplow. Mailboxes hit by snow coming off the plow will not be replaced by the Township. The responsibility for maintaining mailboxes lie with the owner of the box. Please ensure your mailbox is secure and the post is in good, sturdy condition.
