Tay Valley Township receives Ontario Trillium Foundation grant to pay for part-time Sports and Recreation Coordinator position
Tay Valley Township is pleased to announce that the Ontario Trillium Foundation has awarded the Township a $54,900 Resilient Communities Fund grant. The grant will be used to pay for 100% of the cost to hire a part-time Sports and Recreation Coordinator. This funding will also cover the costs associated with this position such as the materials and supplies required to deliver recreational programming, mileage expenses to travel within the area, and a portable microphone and speaker system. Grant funds will be awarded over the next two years, until April 2025.
“As we recover from the pandemic, local residents are looking forward to getting out and socializing again with friends and neighbours,” said Rob Rainer, Reeve of Tay Valley Township. “Our municipality welcomes the funds provided by the Ontario Trillium Foundation, which are making it possible to hire a part-time Sports and Recreation Coordinator to help jumpstart community activities again, especially for older adults and families with children.”
Currently, Tay Valley Township offers karate, soccer and hockey recreational programs for children and teens as well as an intergenerational choir.
