Some important tips to prepare for summer and wildfire season are:

1. Obey burn bans: Pay attention to local regulations and refrain from outdoor burning during periods of high fire danger or when burn bans are in effect.  If there is a burn ban in effect, it will be posted on the main page of the Township’s website.
2. Properly dispose of ashes, coals, and smoking materials: Make sure ashes and coals from fireplaces, stoves, and outdoor grills and campfires are completely extinguished before disposing of them. Never discard of smouldering materials in areas with dry vegetation or leave unattended.
3. Maintain defensible space: Create a defensible space around your home by clearing vegetation and combustible materials from the area immediately surrounding your home to help reduce the risk of wildfire spreading.
