In accordance sections 17 and 26 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, as amended:
TAKE NOTICE that an in-person Open House will be held on June 9, 2022, a virtual Open House will be held on June 14, 2022, and a Public Meeting will be held on June 21, 2022 in order to consider the following:
- Official Plan Amendment (OPA 7), a Township initiated amendment to the Tay Valley Township Official Plan under Sections 17 and 26 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, as amended.
OPEN HOUSES
The purpose of the Open House is to provide the public with the opportunity to hear a presentation on the Draft Official Plan review and discuss proposed Official Plan policy and mapping updates with the Township Planner and JP2G Consultants. All interested parties are invited to participate.
PUBLIC MEETING
A statutory Public Meeting will be held to provide the public with an opportunity to provide further comments on the proposed updates. Council will consider public feedback prior to adopting an updated Official Plan. Additional notice will be provided.
PURPOSE AND EFFECT:
The Official Plan is Council’s commitment to Township residents, containing the goals, objectives and policies intended to guide land use development and conservation over a 25-year time horizon. The Official Plan manages and directs physical development within the context of social, economic, built and natural environment matters.
The Planning Act requires that an Official Plan be updated to ensure that it: conforms with provincial plans or does not conflict with them; has regard to matters of provincial interest; and is consistent with provincial policy statements. The Township Official Plan must also conform with the Lanark County Official Plan.
A summary of proposed areas for policy and mapping updates to the Official Plan is available on the Township website together with background studies. These include: growth management, Climate Change Plan, housing data, and Indigenous reconciliation.
PROPERTY DESCRIPTION:
The update to the Official Plan will affect all lands within the municipal boundary of Tay Valley Township. Accordingly, no key map is provided.

If a person or public body would otherwise have an ability to appeal the decision of The Corporation of the Township of Tay Valley to the Ontario Land Tribunal but the person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to The Corporation of the Township of Tay Valley before the proposed official plan amendment is adopted, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision.
If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to The Corporation of the Township of Tay Valley before the proposed official plan amendment is adopted, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Ontario Land Tribunal unless, in the opinion of the Tribunal, there are reasonable grounds to do so.
