NOTICE
CALL FOR LIVESTOCK INVESTIGATORS
Tay Valley Township invites applications from members of the public who are interested in being a Municipal Livestock Investigator.
Applications are now being accepted to serve as Municipal Livestock Investigators pursuant to the Ontario Wildlife Damage Compensation Program to make a full investigation and submit the program report. Successful appointees may expect 2 to 10 claims per year for each time a livestock producer contacts them directly due to a loss or injury of livestock and/or poultry as a result of wildlife predation or whose bee colonies, beehives and/or beehive-related equipment has been damaged. Claims require the Investigator to collect evidence on site, and to prepare and submit to the Municipality a report of the predation.
Applicants should demonstrate good general knowledge of livestock, poultry and other farm animals, experience with predation investigation or wildlife tracking and identification, the ability to take photographs to be submitted with the report and hold a valid “G” driver’s licence. Specific training to be provided. More information on Livestock Predation can be found at https://www.tayvalleytwp.ca/en/living-here/Livestock-Losses.aspx
Investigators are paid $80.00 per report plus milage.
Completed applications are being received by the Deputy Clerk by email or at the Municipal Office, at the address indicated below, until 12:00 p.m. local time, on February 2nd, 2023.
