Tay Valley Township is pleased to announce that the popular Otty Lake Boat Launch has a whole new look and feel, with:
- an information kiosk;
- a bench by the water’s edge;
- a dock; and
- an increased parking area.
A ribbon cutting ceremony on May 15th, 2024 kicked off the 2024 boating season with Reeve Rob Rainer, Deputy Reeve Fred Dobbie, Councillors Wayne Baker, Greg Hallam, Angela Pierman, and members of the Otty Lake Association, along with residents on the lake, in attendance.
This popular—and completely free—public water access point on Otty Lake has provided generations of residents and visitors alike with a wonderful location to meet up for a casual boat ride, to go fishing, go for a paddle, and make the most of summer.
“We are delighted to have now improved the Otty Lake boat launch and public access point," said Reeve Rob Rainer. "Otty Lake is one of 32 named lakes in Tay Valley Township, and one of our larger lakes with a lot of nooks and crannies to explore. With these improvements, Township residents and visitors alike have better public access to the lake, and while at the boat launch also learn about the lake's rich natural and cultural heritage."
Tay Valley Township would like to thank the Government of Canada for the grant for the dock, Lanark County for the $5,000 tourism grant, the Otty Lake Association for its funding contribution of $500 and for researching and writing the kiosk content; and Stan Strickland, who built the kiosk itself.
Located at 141 Miller Bay Road, the Otty Lake Boat Launch also offers an accessible washroom in season.
