New and Improved Glen Tay Swimming Area
Tay Valley Township is pleased to announce that the popular Glen Tay Swimming Area has a whole new look and feel, with:
- accessible picnic tables;
- an information kiosk;
- a bike rack; and
- landscaping.
As part of our 25th Anniversary celebrations, Reeve Rob Rainer, Deputy Reeve Fred Dobbie, Councillor Angela Pierman and members of the Tay Valley Township Heritage Property Selection Committee Karen Prytula and Ted Parkinson attended a ribbon cutting event today to re-open the park.
This popular—and completely free—public water access point on the Tay River has provided generations of residents and visitors alike with a wonderful location to meet up for a swim, go for a paddle, and make the most of summer.
“We are fortunate to live in a Township where we can easily enjoy such beautiful recreational spaces,” remarked Reeve Rob Rainer. “In Tay Valley, we value our natural heritage and take pleasure in protecting it for our children and grandchildren in the years to come.”
Tay Valley Township would like to thank Lanark County for its funding contribution of $5,000; the Heritage Properties Selection Committee, which researched and wrote the kiosk content; and Stan Strickland, who built the kiosk itself.
Located at 527 Glen Tay Road, the Glen Tay Swimming Area also offers parking and an accessible washroom in season.
