Important Dates - 2024 Building Code Edition

Reminder: the 2024 Building Code (#OBC2024) will be phased in gradually by early 2025. Here are some key dates to remember...

December 31^st, 2024

Until the end of 2024, permit applications must be submitted using the 2012 Building Code.

January 1^st, 2025

At the start of 2025, applications should start using the new 2024 edition, but the 2012 edition is allowed for projects where the drawings are shown to be “substantially complete” before Jan 1^st, 2025.

Mar 31^st, 2025

March 31^st is the last day to submit any permit applications using the old 2012 Code.

April 1^st, 2025

Starting on April 1^st, all permit applications must be submitted using the 2024 edition.
