EOWC Continue to be Strong Advocates for Priorities at 2021 AMO Conference

Eastern Ontario, August 23, 2021 – The Eastern Ontario Wardens’ Caucus (EOWC) joined more than 1,500 participants across Ontario, during the virtual Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) Conference, which took place from August 16 to 18.

Led by Chair Debbie Robinson, Warden of the County of Renfrew, EOWC members had the opportunity to meet with Provincial Ministers, the NDP Caucus, and the Liberal Caucus to highlight advocacy work and outline the pressing issues facing the eastern Ontario region. Key priorities discussed included long-term care, health care transformation (Ontario Health Teams, Modernization of Public Health and Emergency Health Services and Virtual Care), affordable and attainable housing, and broadband and cellular services.

“The Caucus had a strong presence at the AMO conference again this year,” stated EOWC Chair Debbie Robinson. “We appreciate the platform that the AMO conference provides, as delegation meetings are an invaluable opportunity to put the EOWC’s advocacy work on the radar of Provincial decision-makers.”

“The EOWC is a critical municipal partner, and we will continue to advocate for key priorities that will not only benefit the eastern Ontario region, but the entire Province throughout COVID-19 recovery and beyond,” added EOWC Vice-Chair Liz Danielsen.
