The Heritage Properties Recognition Program acknowledges Tay Valley Township’s long and diverse indigenous and settler history, and the wealth of heritage properties that define our community. Properties eligible to receive recognition include buildings that have historic or cultural significance to the community, structures such as monuments, cemetery markers or bridges, and heritage landscapes and archaeological sites. Council Composition Review
Tay Valley Township, was created in 1998 with the amalgamation of the townships of Bathurst, North Burgess and South Sherbrooke. Since amalgamation the composition of Council has consisted of 8 members.
The Reeve (Head of Council) and the Deputy Reeve are elected at-large. In addition, two councillors are elected for each of the three wards.
The number of electors in Tay Valley Township as at February 18th, 2021 is 6,474.

Approximately three percent of bats carry the rabies virus. The most common signs of rabies in bats are the inability to fly and resting in unusual places such as the ground or floor. It is important to remember many of the bats that get into our homes are healthy bats and are looking for a way out.
