Tay Valley Township wants you to recycle!
If you bring one full container of recyclables to the waste site, you may dispose of one bag of garbage for free (without using a tag). Please flatten cans and bundle cardboard to save space and dollars.
* NEW – Brush will now ONLY be accepted at the Stanleyville site. It will no longer be accepted at Glen Tay or Maberly.
Residents are asked to sort recyclables (empty and clean) into the following four categories:
1- PLASTIC
The following plastic containers (clear & coloured) are accepted:
#1 #2 #3 #4 #5 #6 #7 – pop bottles, yogurt containers, cookie trays, etc
2- FINE PAPER
Newspaper and fine paper should be sorted separately from other paper.
3- CARDBOARD
The following should be sorted with cardboard:
• Boxboard & corrugated cardboard (coated and non-coated) clean, collapsed and bundled
• Milk & juice containers, cereal boxes, frozen juice containers with metal lids removed, toilet / paper towel rolls, manila and window envelopes,
• Books with hardcover removed, phone books.
4- METAL CANS
Metal cans, both aluminum and steel, should be flattened.
Other Material:
Scrap metal, including copper, aluminum, steel, galvanized pipe, metal furniture, are accepted. Please consult the fee schedule for these items and other construction material.
Glass, dishes, pottery, ceramics are sorted separately.
NOT accepted:
• Carbon paper
• Fluorescent tubes
• Styrofoam
• Textiles (please take clean textiles to local depots)
• Food wrap and plastic lunch & freezer bags
• Hazardous waste is NOT accepted.
