In the mid-1980’s Duncan Meikle established a bursary in the former Sherbrooke Township, now one of Tay Valley’s wards, to award deserving high school graduates residing in Sherbrooke with the means to further their education at a university or college level.

Throughout the years funds have been awarded to eligible students chosen by the Sherbrooke Bursary Selection Committee and there is now approximately $650. remaining “in-trust”.  Eligibility requirements are simply that you are continuing your studies at a post-secondary school and that you are a resident of Sherbrooke Ward.  A map of Sherbrooke is attached.

The Township has decided to split the remaining funds over a two year period allowing for $325. to be awarded this year and next.

Eligible students must submit their name and details on the school they will be attending as soon as possible in order that the Township has sufficient time to forward information to the Bursary Selection Committee; prior to graduation ceremonies at local schools in June of this year.

The County is lifting their half-load restrictions on May 6^th, 2013, with the exception of County Road 16 (South Lavant Road), which should be lifted on May 21^st, 2013 (depending on the weather).

 Taking home the trophy and bragging rights are “Grey Matter” team members.

Tay Valley Council invite residents to join them in PITCH-IN MONTH 2013 clean-up activities.  As good stewards of our community, we encourage all local groups and agencies to participate in debris collection around our lakes, roadways and in our communities!

Tay Valley Township will provide FREE “Pitch-In” bag tags / bags to Lake Associations, Road Associations, Schools, Neighbourhood Watch and Church Groups, Scout/Guide and sports groups, 4-H groups, Women’s Institutes, or individuals who pre-register their planned activities, or use your own bags with “Pitch-In” bag tags.  Please remember to separate recyclables before bringing to the waste sites.

Registration forms are available at the Township Office or on the Township’s website at (www.tayvalleytwp.ca).

We remind all participants in clean-up activities to dress appropriately, wear suitable gloves, and take care when handling debris.
