Municipal Elections are held every four years.  Tay Valley residents vote for the offices of Reeve, Deputy Reeve, Councillor and school board Trustee.  By voting, you are not only exercising your democratic right, but you are also helping to set the future direction of Tay Valley Township.

The Township provides the day-to-day services you count on each day. From fire and police services, to roads, bridges and waste management sites, Township Council decides how your property tax dollars are spent and establishes the level and range of municipal services available in our community.
Voting matters!

Voting for your school board Trustee is also important. Trustees develop and implement recommendations for educational programs, budgets, facilities and property issues, and policies and procedures that govern their Board’s operation.

The last Municipal Election was held Oct. 25, 2010.

Municipalities within Lanark County and the Town of Smiths Falls have appointed a joint Compliance Audit Committee to deal with complaints regarding election campaign financing.

An elector entitled to vote in an election and believes on reasonable grounds a candidate has contravened a provision of the Act relating to election campaign finances, may apply for a compliance audit of the candidate’s election campaign finances.

The committee reviews applications stemming from the 2010 Municipal Election and any subsequent by-election.

The Committee Includes:
Claude Brett
Arnold Francis
Maureen Towaij
Senera Fortin (alternate)

Complaints should be filed with the Clerk.
